I find the appearance of the first few kids to be downright creepy. The first one reminded me of the Ring.
All you need is an appearance by PennywiseRonald McDonald to edge it into the horrific.

Pennywise needs to come out and devour all the little children in representation of how Mikey D's destroys our inner child from the inside out! Now that would be a cool short film!

I'm picturing PennywiseRonald dragging one of those kids backwards into one of the shiny red tubes in a McD's playland as he prepares to eat their soul

Quicktime hates my computer. :(

I will say this though... I was dragged onto the happy fun caboose for a birthday party when I was about 5 years old. One look at Ronald McDonald and I ran to my parents crying my eyes out.

Exhibit 2, my parents have a dog who hates Ronald McDonald. They go through the drive through sometimes (a bit too often) and whenever the dog is with them he barks his head off at the Ronald portrait on the drive through booth.

Just more proof about the creepifying nature of Ronald McDonald.
